Zero Waste a fast-paced, interactive touchscreen game that challenges players to become waste-sorting heroes. Built for public installation in Redwood City, the game teaches the importance of proper recycling and waste management in preventing ocean pollution.
Players must quickly drag and drop various waste items—plastic, compostables, metals, and landfill-bound trash—into the correct bins. Time is of the essence, and the pressure ramps up as the clock ticks down. The more you sort correctly, the cleaner our oceans become. Misplaced waste triggers gentle visual feedback, encouraging better choices.
Developed using the Godot Game Engine and scripted in GDScript, the game combines playful animations with smooth drag-and-drop mechanics optimized for touchscreen interaction. Designed to be accessible for all ages, the game features a clean, vibrant UI with visual clarity and friendly cues.
Zero Waste turns sustainability into an engaging challenge—showing how small actions, done quickly and correctly, can ripple into big environmental change.
