Rising Waters is an engaging, educational touchscreen game designed to raise awareness about climate change and the impacts of rising sea levels. Developed in collaboration with Formula D Interactive for Redwood City, the experience empowers players to explore how everyday choices can affect coastal resilience.
Players are guided through a series of quiz-style decisions, each animated with vibrant outcomes—ranging from destructive floods to well-preserved natural defenses. As they navigate scenarios like building infrastructure or protecting wetlands, users learn about real-world consequences in an interactive, visual way.
The game was developed using the open-source Godot Game Engine, with all logic and UI built in GDScript. The project required a balance of smooth animations, responsive touch controls, and clarity in visual storytelling to ensure accessibility across ages.
Hosted in educational installations, this touchscreen experience invites users to “Be Prepared, Protect Our Bay!”—making sustainability and civic decision-making both fun and memorable.
